Navigating Habit Hacker PALS

Setting a goal is an important part of making a change that lasts. If you are the person who drinks, you may have decided that you want to drink less often. Your goal might be to address your alcohol intake and start to take control over your drinking.

Taking action means using behaviour to move yourself towards your goals. Reducing drinking isn’t a passive process. This module includes strategies that provide guidance on active steps you can take to meet your alcohol reduction goals.

EXTRA RESOURCES

This strategy is for people who have been working on change for some time and are experiencing a dip in motivation. The good news is there are some simple methods to kick-start your progress again.

Getting stuck in a rut or losing motivation are common barriers. Getting stuck can mean it is difficult to move forward. This toolkit has a bunch of great options for getting out of the rut. These tools might also be helpful if you’ve been stuck for a while and nothing is working.

Trigger tackler can be helpful if you need to up the ante on your personal programme. It helps to address the high-risk situations. This tool requires a bit more work than the other tools and will ask you to push yourself and think about why you really drink. The answers you provide will help you to develop your own personal trigger tackler plan.

Resilience is one of the strongest tools for building confidence. Resilience is the ability to cope with difficult situations and to recover from hardships. This does not mean that the problems disappear. Rather, it is the ability to cope with it and move past it faster. Everyone has some resilience, and everyone has the ability to build it up.
